Gulf Shores 4th Street Public Access

There is no public parking located here. Parking is located at the 5th street public access and you have a short walk east down to the red light at 4th street to cross there at the crosswalk. There is a signal for your convenience at the crosswalk at the light and the crosswalk just past the light has no signal of course.

Island Outfitters is across from this beach access as well as a Seaside Liquor store that currently has an ATM conveniently located in its parking lot. Tropical Snow serves shaved ice and is between 4th and 5th street as well as Flip Flops that serves Ice Cream, Hot dogs, etc as well as has free wifi.

The beach access sits between two condos. One condo is a one unit structure running perpendicular to the beach and the other is a multi-building structure that runs parallel to the beach.

The parking lots to these units are separated by a palm tree lined median. Just past the median is a short wooden boardwalk with no showers and no bathroom that stops short of the sand dunes.

The distance of the boardwalk is approximately 70 feet and the distance from there to the shoreline is approximately ____ feet.

Beach chair service is located to the right and left here. There are no lifeguard stands. Trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet.

Gulf Shores 5th Street Public Access

A public parking lot is across the street from the beach access and a small gravel lot at Bahama Bob’s restaurant on the same side of the road. Unfortunately there is no crosswalk for the parking lot across the street and it is not the safest area to cross due to the high traffic located here. The parking lot here is free.

To the west of this lot is Beach-side Resort Hotel with the Beach Zone Ice Cream Shop in it’s parking lot. To the east of the public beach access parking lot is currently an empty lot and past that is Flip Flop Deli where they provide free wifi.

The beach access wooden boardwalk runs between Phoenix West high rise condos on the left side and behind Bahama Bob’s restaurant on the right appears to be a new high rise project starting there. Sand has been moved and rebar set in several areas behind the restaurant.

The boardwalk is narrow and barely wide enough for people to pass each other much less with anyone carry beach gear and carts. There is a shower just before the end of the boardwalk and it widens to four benches for seating. The boardwalk stops short of the sand dunes.

The distance of the boardwalk is approximately ____ feet and the distance from the end of the boardwalk to the shoreline is approximately ____ feet. Ike’s rental service is to the left in front of Phoenix West on the beach. Pleasure Island parasailing stand is located to the right for those who are adventurous and looking to try something new.

In the far distance to the right, you can see the lifeguard stand number 6 at the 6th street beach access. Trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet.

This beach access is conveniently located at a red light with a small gravel parking lot on the same side of the road as the beach. This is a paid parking lot with a pay parking box at the base of the public separate male and female restrooms. There are stairs and a handicap ramp leading up to the back of the restroom building.

There is a narrow wooden boardwalk that leads to a shower just before the structure widens with 4 benches for seating. The palm tree lined boardwalk is ____ feet long and stops significantly short of the sand dunes here. It is approximately ___ feet to the shoreline.

There is a condo on the right that runs perpendicular to the beach and a 6 story condo on the left with the ground floor for parking with units facing the other condo and some units facing the beach.

Lifeguard stand #6 is here at this location. To the left just past the dunes are private property signs and chair services for that condominium. A short distance to the right is additional chair services with no private property signs there. Trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet.

Gulf Shores 10th Street Public Access

The parking lot is directly across the street from this access with a mixture of asphalt and sand parking spaces. The crosswalk connects directly from the parking lot to the the beach access.

At the entrance of the access, you will find a bike rack and a handicap accessible porta potty built in an above par wooden structure. There are hooks to hang your beach gear inside the single toilet unisex facility. The space is large enough to maneuver a wheelchair in and out of. There is no sink in this unit, but there are showers located outside.

The is a wooden boardwalk lined with a dozen palm trees runs approximately ____ feet long and a sandy path that runs parallel to this. The boardwalk crosses over the sand dunes more than half way down with handicap railing near the end but that and the wooden walkway railing stops several feet short of the end of the boardwalk.

At the end of the boardwalk, there is approximately a 3 foot drop off with no steps to the sand below. The stretch of sand from the beach to the shoreline is approximately ____ feet long. There is chair service at this location but no lifeguard stand. Trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet.

Condos are on both sides of the boardwalk that run parallel to it and perpendicular to the beach. Based on the current layout, I would not consider this handicap accessible at this time.

Just a short walk east down 182 you will reach Janino’s Pizza at 9th street across from the beach if you are looking for lunch nearby. Headed west down 182 you will reach Waves convenient store for all your basic needs from grocery, liquor, and tackle at 11th street.

12th Street Public Beach Access

The is no public parking at this beach access or across the street from it. This area is residential. There is a crosswalk to get from one side of the road to the other but not directly in front of the access area. Despite the fact there is a crosswalk, getting vehicles to stop is another story.

The crosswalk is well mark as well as signage along the roadside. Please consider this when you are driving on the highway and stop for pedestrians; they do have the right of way.

At the entrance of this beach access, there is a bike rack and a handicap accessible porta potty built in the same above par wooden structure as the 10th and 13th street accesses.

The shower here is near the end of the wooden boardwalk that crosses over the sand dunes that is approximately ___ feet long with handicap railing toward the end. However, this is not handicap accessible with the 4 steep, narrow steps at the end of the boardwalk down to the beach from the ramp.

There is not a lifeguard stand here and trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet to follow the local motto and leave only footprints.

Waves convenient store for all your basic needs from grocery, liquor, and tackle is located just east of this on 11th street.

13th Street Public Beach Access

This access has public parking across the beach with a crosswalk and signage that is a short walk away from the entrance. This is just east of the Lagoon Pass Beach Access and again a problem area for vehicles not obeying the traffic laws and allowing pedestrians the right of way to readily cross the street. Always look both ways and don’t expect the driver will stop. Your safety is in your own hands unfortunately here.

At the entrance of this beach access, it has the same wooden handicap accessible enclosed unisex porta potty structure as 10th and 12th street beach access. There are showers and a bike rack here.

The wooden boardwalk is approximately ___ feet long and is in the shape a a “Z” along the way. The walkway opens up with 4 wooden benches. There is 1 lifeguard stand on the beach with no number marked on the side of the stand, so I’m uncertain if this is frequently manned or not. Trash and recycle cans line the beach approximately every 50 feet.
